Vienna is simply one of the most sumptuous cities in Europe, if not the world. It is dripping with glamour and unadulterated luxury, and while a trip here doesn’t come in cheap, it is worthwhile just to enjoy the unique Vienna experience. Luxurious boutique hotels sit quietly next to each other on the boulevards, waiting to welcome their guests and treat them like royalty.

The Capital of Austria has been compared to other resorts in Europe such as Cannes or Nice, but you will not see tourists, but Vienna is in a completely different league. The whole essence of the city is one of calm and tranquillity and the Viennese go about their business in a quiet unassuming manner, as do the visitors.

The great transport links around Europe have opened up many new destinations for weekend travellers, one being the city of Innsbruck in the Austrian Tyrol. Long associated with the skiing scene, Innsbruck has a lot more to offer the discerning tourist than just ski slopes. The cultural capital of the Tyrol is home to world class collections of art and many elegant boutiques.

A must see on any short break to Innsbruck is the most important symbol in the city, the Golden Roof. Situated in the old town, Archduke Friedrich IV started constructing the roof in the 15th century for the emperor Maximilian I who used to sit beneath it and watch the world go by. Another must see is the Hofburg imperial palace with its chandelier lit grandeur it is both imposing and impressive.
