City guide to Auckland

Auckland in New Zealand is one of only a few cities in the world that has harbours in two different bodies of water. This sprawling metropolis is home to over 1.4m, and is the largest city in New Zealand and the services of a good tour guide are recommended to see the best that this amazing city has to offer, and not try and find your own way around with a map and a bus timetable. There are a number of cheap flights to Auckland available, depending greatly on where you are flying from and the time of the year.

This is just a rough guide to some of the major attractions worth seeing in Auckland, and may assist those travellers who fancy exploring at t heir leisure. Heading south from Waitemata Harbour you will come across the main street in the city centre; Karangahape Road. From here you can easily get to some of the main attractions in the area, such as Viaduct Basin, The festivals and markets in Aotea Square and the tallest building in the southern hemisphere the Sky Tower.

The landscape is dominated by Mount Eden, a dormant volcano, and the trip to the top is well worth it for the views over the city and some outstanding photographic opportunities. Auckland Domain is a great place to relax for a while and bask in the sunshine, while a trip to One Tree Hill is a popular trip for both tourists and locals.

If you are sporty, there are a great many options to interest you. Eden Park is where the famous All Blacks rugby team play their home internationals, and international cricket is also played here. There are also major sporting facilities for the likes of netball, tennis and rugby league, and time your trip correctly and you may catch a match or game.

Add to this the vast array of museums, art galleries and the beautiful beaches, and it is easy to see why the city of Auckland is so popular.
