On the trail of The Godfather in Corleone, Sicily

Corleone on Sicily is a small commune town that is home to about twelve thousand people found within the Province of Palermo in Italy. The town’s claim to fame is its supposed birthplace of famed Godfather mob leader Vito Corleone; although it is also home to plenty of real mafia heads such as Michele Navarra, jack Dragna, and Bernardo Provenzano. Within the town there is also a local mafia family that were in charge of the mafia throughout the eighties and nineties called the Corleonesi who were known as the most violent mafia family yet to be in control.

Some of the best beaches in Italy are well kept secrets, why? because the Italians want it that way. They don’t want their glorious sands to be invaded by tourists and trippers, they want their bays kept exclusive and when you will see them you will understand why. They are rated as some of the best beaches in the world, and the last thing the locals want is for them to become well known and become crowded, a la Benidorm.

Many celebrities have villas overlooking the Azure waters of the Amalfi coast. You could throw a dart blindfolded at a map of this coastline and not find a bad beach. One of the most tempting sights in Lido is their sumptuous stretch of white sand. The water lapping at your feet in the Venetian resort can not be swum in but who cares with sands like this?
