Taking a holiday to Bulgaria
2 Jun
More people than ever are discovering the delights of Bulgaria for their summer holidays, and it is easy to see why. The country boasts a beautiful coastline and you will find two main holiday destinations; Golden Sands in the north and Sunny Beach in the south. The main hotels are located here, but Bulgaria has such a burgeoning tourist industry that before long there will be resorts springing up right along the coast.
The large UK tour operators opened the tourist floodgates into Bulgaria, and over time more and more have joined in. Whereas at one time you would have to take a package holiday through one of the main operators, you can now build yourself a holiday as numerous sites offer accommodation and the like. There are also a growing number of private villas to rent, so check out these if you travelling as part of a larger group.
Rural holidays are also becoming ever more popular, as many prefer to live the simple life of the locals and have a completely relaxing holiday. Car hire is a great way of getting the best of both worlds, and you plan your trip around Bulgaria having a few days here then a few days there with very little problem. After all, a holiday is a break from the norm and the chance to relax and recharge your batteries, so a peaceful rural retreat will have you feeling like a new person in no time at all.
The smaller resorts of Kranevo, Albena, Sinemoretz, Sozopol and Balchik are quickly making names for themselves on the tourist scene, no doubt helped by the friendliness of their local inhabitants. There is much of Bulgaria still to be discovered, and while it is fast becoming a major force in the travel industry, the culture and heritage of the country hasn’t been compromised, which just adds further to its appeal.
